Like fellow Pakistani creators Murtaza Qizilbash and Ashir, Maanu built his audience through independent releases and streaming, and he continues to release music across pop, hip-hop and indie styles.
Biography
Maanu, whose real name is Rehman Afshar, is a singer-songwriter and rapper born and raised in Lahore. He has spent nearly a decade building a distinct place within Pakistan’s indie, pop and hip-hop scene, with early tracks including “Melancholic”, “Khwaab”, “Kidhar?” and “Sweetu”. His appearance on the Coke Studio Season 15 track “Jhol” alongside Annural Khalid became one of his most widely recognised releases, and “Jhol” became one of the most-streamed local songs of 2024. His debut album Yain City was released in 2020, and his later album Thikaana features collaborations with Asim Azhar and Talha Anjum. In October 2026 he returned to Coke Studio with “Shabnam”, a Nu.WAV release with Zoha Waseem, produced by Talal Qureshi.

Work Experience
Maanu began releasing music independently, building a following through singles such as “Melancholic”, “Khwaab”, “Kidhar?” and “Sweetu”. His debut album Yain City followed in 2020. His collaboration with Annural Khalid on “Jhol” for Coke Studio Season 15 brought him to a much wider audience.
